A Bahraini getaway!

During the month of October I got to stay at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Bahrain and it was my first time to visit the country. I haven’t seen much of Bahrain other then the roads to and from the airport so I’m definitely hoping to come back soon and explore the country a bit more.

Bahrain tips:
– The flight from Dubai to Bahrain takes about 60 minutes, perfect for a quick weekend getaway
– The cheapest tickets you’ll find vary from 400 to 600 AED (depending on the season)
– FlyDubai and Emirates Airlines offer direct flights from Dubai
– Keep in mind that there’s a visit visa fee of 25 BD (250 AED)
– The airport is 10 minutes away from the Ritz Carlton resort.

What I really like about Ritz Carlton hotels in particular is that they make an effort to make you feel special by surprising you with hand written cards, sweets and other lovely surprises such as this cake using my name in hashtags. Every time I enter my room there’s a surprise waiting for me which I think is super cute and its highly appreciated.

Lounge Pool Area

This was my favourite part of the hotel and this is where I spent most of my time at. Reason being, there are no children allowed at the lounge pool area, yay! (LOL) Its just the perfect area to relax, tan, sip on your cocktail while enjoying the beautiful view. To me, that’s what matters when I’m on a stay cation. The lounge area has an infinity pool overlooking the beach with lounge sofa’s and a DJ.

There’s a Thai restaurant located at the lounge pool area where light Asian food and snacks are available. The Thai green curry and sushi were amazing! A small remark that I noticed, all the staff from this restaurant are all originated from Thailand. For a second, this made me feel like I was in Thailand again :)

Just like any other Ritz Carlton resort in the region, there’s a lot of green which creates a tropical vibe. This resort even has flamingo’s wandering around.

The resort has a huge beach area, some area’s may be more crowded then others. And they also have this tiny little island in the picture above which you can either walk or swim to. A lot of people don’t know that Bahrain is actually an island which is surrounded by smaller islands and the word Bahrain actually means ‘two seas’.

Every Ritz Carlton hotel has a club lounge area which is the VIP area of the hotel located at the top floor. In the club lounge there’s an open buffet available through out the entire day where they serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. This is a complementary service from the hotel to the VIP guests. However, if you prefer more breakfast options, there’s always a breakfast buffet restaurant. La Med was my favourite place for breakfast because of the pool view and their yummy carbs, hmmmmn! Of course there’s also a healthier option such as fruits, vegetables, fresh juices, granola, yoghurt etc. And other warm breakfast dishes, overall a very wide variety of breakfast choice, and the coffee is great!

One of the dining restaurants that I’ve tried at the resort is the Italian Primavera. It’s been a while since I’ve had such good authentic Italian food, from the starters to dessert; everything was amazing! For the first time I tried out a fried pizza which was out of this world. The eggplant lasagne and freshly made ravioli are a must! Looking back at the pictures makes me crave for their food again.

Other than rooms, the resort also offers luxurious Villa’s with a huge (private) pool, garden as well as a private beach area.

Rolls Royce: For hotel guests there is an option to book a Rolls Royce car arranged to and from the airport. The Rolls Royce can also transfer you from the Saudi border and back. This is an extra service that the hotel offers their guests.
